As we get closer to the 2010 municipal elections, I want to thank you, my fellow Ward 9 neighbours, for giving me this tremendous opportunity to represent you at the City of Mississauga and Region of Peel since 1991.

Serving as your Member of Council is a great privilege and responsibility I take very seriously.  I hope you will continue to give me your support and confidence and re-elect me on October 25.

My commitment for our community has not changed since I first ran for office; and in fact I am even more passionate about keeping our community the great place it is. Many of us have raised our families here and we share a desire to keep our neighbourhoods safe and vibrant. We worked together to build facilities for Meadowvale such as our community centre, parks and library. In Central Erin Mills we worked together again to build Erin Meadows Community Centre and library and celebrated as we opened the parks.

Over the past four years there have been new opportunities for our ward and I look forward to working with you on these new and exciting future projects such as the renovation of the Meadowvale Community Centre, development of an arts/heritage centre and the ongoing stewardship of Lake Wabukayne just to name a few.

As your Councillor, I have brought your concerns and your needs to Council at both the City and Region and I have been successful in getting my colleagues’ support on your issues. I am always looking at new, fresh ideas and your input has been invaluable. By working together, we have made Ward 9 the safest community in the City and the best place in which to live work and play.

While dealing effectively and efficiently with your individual issues such as traffic control, parking issues, waste management, crime prevention and development, I have also been instrumental in keeping Mississauga and the Region financially strong, bringing a strong business approach to budgets while maintaining good service levels.  Your input through my surveys and ward meetings has been invaluable. I have continued to expand my communication to you through the Ward 9 web site, the email newsletter and my online surveys.

As we move forward, we have new challenges but we also have new opportunities. With your support on October 25th, I will continue to bring my experience, my dedication and my commitment to our community as your Councillor.  Now more than ever we need to put our communities and our city first and make decisions that are for the benefit of our residents.  I have always done that and I pledge to continue to do so.   Thank you for placing your trust in me and I look forward to working with you in the next term of office.
